Just last week, I saw a post in one of the Facebook group I joined that they are looking for food bloggers to cover an event. the Papa John’s Monster Match!!! So I immediately signed up with my email address and my blog site…. After a few days, when I thought i didn’t make the cut, I got an email saying I was selected to participate in the event! Yey!!
So right after our dance rehearsal that Saturday October 26th, I immediately went to Greenbelt 3 main event area. Honestly, I was in the impression that it will just be a big taste testing event but BIG OMG…. there’s a great big tent, an all equipped tech booth and an array of tables and chairs…. It’s a GREAT BIG PHENOMENAL EVENT and i was chosen to write about it! wollyyyyyybanenerz!!! With my camera all charged, i started taking photos after I met Sir Alwin.
There’s a pile of people all lined up to register and it was like a block buster film showing!
Since they’re busy with their forms and reading their waivers, we were called by Sir Alwin to do a quick chat and we were introduced to Papa John’s Sir Mark. He was kind enough to give us a quick briefing and tour inside.
They have a face painting area,
Photo booth and refreshment corners.
When the event was about to start, they were able to rally a total of 40 teams of 3!!!! That’s a total of 120 participants! (Galing ko sa math!!)
To entertain the crowd, there were a couple of sets for a magician and a mob dance in between.
Amidst the pool of well prepared eaters, mostly guys…. there was a team of 3 courageous girls ( Holler girlfriends!! represent!! fierce!!! love!! and uhm aahhh carbs??? yeah!! ) who gracefully accepted the challenge.
The growl of the “GO!” signal unleashed the beast in every table! Oh my, they are warriors in a battlefield…. of food extravaganza!!!
you can hear the overwhelming supporters cheering for their teams! it was so exciting as one round commenced after the other! ( GO!! kemerlou!!! GO!! Kemerlal!! Kalurky! they have their own baranggays with them!! )
for those who werent able to make the cut, aside from the gift packs they had when they registered.. they were also given consolation prizes and they were able to take home the food they werent able to finish! errrmmeenngggaaarrddd!! I was like, we should have joined too!!
And after these 5 rounds…
Many have come… but only few… were hailed the ultimate team of elite eaters!!!
Though I wasn’t able to get their names, i was able to sneak a couple of photos of their winning smiles and if i could only write the sound of their glee, it was a triumphant cheer of succeeding the Papa Johns Monster Match 2013!
It was a fun filled event and it an awesome evening as i have also met new friends before we capped off the night. Thank you Sir Alwin and to Sir Mark of Papa John’s Pizza for this great halloween treat!
Congratulations to the winners and to the great team who created this event. Looking forward for more monstrous history you will create!
